Today marks the beginning of Eurovision season as any song released from today may be eligible to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015! Some countries are also beginning their selection processes this month so here’s a quick guide to what we can expect to happen in September…
Switzerland kicks off their search
After a successful campaign in 2014 the Central European founder of Eurovision is hoping to achieve bigger things in 2015 and the application process for the Swiss final begins on September 29th. As has been the case for four years now, anyone may apply with their entry and have their song posted online to be judged before the public and experts begin to whittle down the finalists in time for January 2015. Will Switzerland find the next Sebalter or even better?
Georgia selects!
With no concrete date in mind, the Caucasian state could spring a surprise at any time, but September will see the first artist chosen for Eurovision 2015 – and we might even get the song too! Conchita Wurst was announced last September so perhaps Georgia can pick a Eurovision winner?
Are they in or out? The decisions will come thick and fast!
We already have many countries confirmed for 2015 but there are still many more left to announce their official decision; are Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina joining Cyprus with a return in 2015? Might we see a surprising return from Morocco? Or will there be more heartbreak and withdrawals in store for Vienna? Whatever the decisions, with a preliminary October deadline we can expect to see many broadcasters finalising their decisions by the end of this month – and ESC United will keep you updated every step of the way.
