Pedro Pubill Calaf, also known as Peret has passed away at the age of 79. The Spanish singer that represented Spain in 1974 could not win the battle against a lung cancer that was diagnosed few weeks ago. Shortly ago, the artist said in his site that he was fighting against that long illness with strength and hopefulness. Peret’s last week of life took place in Barcelona’s Quirón hospital. The voice that represented Spain with “canta y sé feliz” left on Wednesday at 14:00 as his manager and family said in an official announcement.

The city hall of Barcelona will let locals the chance of the last farewell of the Spanish artist. The place will be in Saló de Cent, inside the city hall which it’s located in Saint James Square. It will be possible to send him any message full of support from 11:00 to 21:30. Peret’s family has confirmed that the funeral will be in a strictly private atmosphere on Friday.

Peret had experience as a singer, composer and even actor. He will always be known as the father of the Catalan rumba, a kind of melody with deep roots from Gipsy rumba besides rock and roll and Cuban music as well.
