The Eurovision Season is gearing up very very fast! RTP, the Portuguese broadcaster, is preparing for the upcoming edition of Festival da Canção. Festival da Canção will have 2 semi-finals. In each semi-final, 10 songs will be competing and 6 songs will qualify for the Grand Final. In each semi-final, there will be a first round of vote responsible to select 5 songs, based on the results of the public and jury votes (consisting of personalities linked to the world of music, entertainment and media), in a 50/50 proportion. In the event of a tie for 5th place, the song with the highest score in the jury’s vote will qualify to the Grand Final. Later, a sixth song will be exclusively selected through the public vote. The song with the highest number of calls in this second voting period, in each semi-final, will qualify for the Grand Final.
In the Grand Final, voting will be done by televoting and through the vote of a regional jury, made up of representatives of the 5 regions of mainland Portugal and the 2 autonomous regions (Madeira and Azores), in a 50/50 proportion. In the event of a tie for 1st place, the song with the highest number of calls in the televoting will win.
