You could almost call it an early Christmas gift, as the Dutch broadcaster (AVROTROS) came with a surprise announcement, with a few hours ahead. The Dutch broadcaster only recently ended their submission period, but are already ready to share, that Claude will be the next Dutch representative in Basel.
Who is Claude?
We might get to know him simply as Claude, but his full name is actually Claude Kiambe and he originates from DR Congo. The now 21-year old young singer, moved to The Netherlands with his family, when he was only 9 years old.
He first made an impression on the Dutch scene, when he participated in The Voice Kids in 2019. Eventually, he was signed by the record company Cloud 9 Music in 2022, which was the start of his musical career. The same year, he released his first single, which was titled Ladada (Mon dernier mot)“, and has since released multiple singles since.
Despite a young career, this earned him the best newcomer award from 3FM and best artist of the year from Qmusic. Now the young singer, will be looking forward to impress all of Europe as well.
He was selected from more than 300 submissions, and the reasoning for this was explained as follow, by the selection committee:
- “As a selection committee, we have opted for a meaningful, connecting and hit-sensitive song with international appeal that can effortlessly win the hearts of young and old Eurovision viewers.”
It has also been said, that his song with contain 2 languages, further details so far have not been shared, but it is very much expected that the song and music video will be released around the beginning of March 2025.
