Latvia: Tautumeitas to bring traditional dance to Basel

Another national final is over, and another song has been picked for the contest. The Latvian national final – Supernova – has just concluded and we now know that Tautumeitas will have the honor of making the Baltic nation proud once again.

Supernova 2025 – Final

Tonight, 10 acts competed for the Latvian ticket to Basel. These 10 acts all performed in the week prior, when the semi-final was held with a total of 19 songs. That had become 10 for tonight, which then would turn into 1 winner.

These were the 10 singing for Supernova victory: (sorted after running order)

1. Chris Noah – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
2. Palú – “Delusional”
3. Sinerģija – “Bound By The Light”
4. Citi Zeni – “Ramtai”
5. Tepat – “Sadzejot”
6. The Ludvig – “Ligo”
7. Markus Riva – “Bigger Than This”
8. Tautumeitas – “Bur Man Laimi”
9. Bel Tempo & Legzdina – “The Water”
10. Emilija – “Heartbeat”

The final could also celebrate it’s 10 year anniversary, with the first edition taking place all the way back in 2015. What other way to celebrate that, with a guest performance from th first Supernova winner. Aminata also performed during the show with her song from back then, “Love Injected“, which brought Latvia a 6th place in Vienna, Austria.

Final – Results

Whether the results were a surprise or not is up for debate, since live results were shared throughout the run of the show, but the question was rather, if that would become the final results in the end.

All participants of tonight were called back on stage after the voting closed, in order to announce the final results. Here the final results were announced by the hosts, who revealed the placement of each act, starting from 10th and going up the ladder to the eventual winning act, with the final result as follow:

1. Tautumeitas – “Bur Man Laimi”
2. Emilija – “Heartbeat”
3. Citi Zeni – “Ramtai”
4. The Ludvig – “Ligo”
5. Chris Noah – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
6. Bel Tempo & Legzdina – “The Water”
7. Palú – “Delusional”
8. Markus Riva – “Bigger Than This”
9. Sinerģija – “Bound By The Light”
10. Tepat – “Sadzejot”

With that, Tautumeitas were announced last and therefore the winners of the national final. This will also mark the first time since 2004, that Latvia will be represented by song fully in Latvian.

Latvia will compete in the second semi-final of the 2025 contest, which will take place on the 15th of May, and will perform in the first half.
