The small country is here to stay, or at least for another year. With the return of the Grand Duchy that is Luxembourg after 31 years, the small nation has decided to give it another go in 2025, when the contest is now hosted in Switzerland. Now we shall see, if even a small state can keep up with the intensity for even longer.

Luxembourg in 2025

In 2023, it was announced during the live final of the Eurovision Song Contest, that 2024 would mark the grand return of Luxembourg, which we finally saw unfold in Malmö almost two months ago now. The Luxembourgish broadcaster (RTL) has decided to stay in the good company, and will once again aim for another national final in 2025.

The rules for applying is very simple and the usual, and also very similar to last year’s edition. Anyhow, just for clarification, the main rules are as follow:

  • Participants must be 16 years old or older by January 2025
  • Song can not have been published prior to September 1st
  • Song must not exceed the length of 3 minutes
  • Participants must have Luxembourgish nationality/have lived in Luxembourg or close cultural connection
  • Must be able to sing live
  • Only up to 5 submission per artist/group – all songs must be original compositions
  • Free use of any language

Submission are already open and interested can submit their content to eurovision.lu. Registration will then close on October 6th 2024. Afterwards a jury will then pick the participants, who will compete in the Luxembourgish national final.

In 2024, Tali became the Luxembourgish representative on their grand return after 31 years. In Malmö, she not only took part but also qualified Luxembourg to the grand final, on the country’s first participation under the semi-final system. Her song “Fighter” scored 83 points from the jury and 20 points from the televote, in order to finish on 13th place with 103 combined points.
