Pabandom iš naujo! is no more.
In a recent announcement, Lithuania’s national broadcaster, LRT, revealed its plans to choose the country’s representative for the highly anticipated 2024 Eurovision Song Contest through a revamped national final, “EUROVIZIJA.LT.” The new selection show is set to succeed the previously utilized “Pabandom iÅ¡ naujo!” program. This strategic move highlights Lithuania’s dedication to revitalizing and elevating the attempt at choosing an exceptional artist as their Eurovision representative.
Following the initial phase, a minimum of 20 artists will be selected to participate in the competition. LRT has disclosed its intention to host “four or five” semi-final rounds, culminating in a highly anticipated Grand Final. From there, this will ultimately determine Lithuania’s representative for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Additionally, a comprehensive set of guidelines for “EUROVIZIJA.LT” has been unveiled. According to these directives, here is what we know:
- Contestants in the show must be from the Republic of Lithuania, while international songwriters are also eligible to submit entries for the competition
- Each participating artist will be allocated a performance budget not exceeding €1500
- The regulations adopt Eurovision’s widely recognized 50/50 voting model
- Following each broadcast, viewers will cast their votes in favor of their preferred song. The votes will be tallied, with the winning act securing 12 points, the runner-up receiving 10 points, and so forth, adhering to the established Eurovision voting system
- A Commission will also partake in the voting process for each episode, awarding points in accordance with the same system
- The song that accumulates the highest number of points, combining both the public and Commission’s votes, will be designated as Lithuania’s official representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024.
Submissions for “EUROVIZIJA.LT” will be open until December 11, 2023.
