Lion Ceccah – the artist formerly known as Alen Chicco – took some time to speak with us about personal and creative rebrands, as well as what it would mean to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest.
You competed in the Lithuanian national selection in 2023, 2020, and 2019. How have these experiences prepared you for Eurovizija.LT 2025?
Oh, it gave me an understanding of how TV works. That all of the settings, lights, camerawork is a very hard and time consuming thing. So this year I prepared things in advance.
You’re participating in Eurovizija.LT 2025 under a new name, Lion Ceccah, after releasing a song a few months ago titled “You’re The One (Farewell to Alen Chicco).” Can you talk about the reasoning behind this name change?
It’s a rebrand. Rebirth. Re-creation. I see myself as an always changing, evolving, and growing creature. So this is a part of my journey. My name Alen Chicco transformed into Lion Ceccah, which is an anagram. Alen Chicco reached its limit and died, and now it is only a brand name. My creative side needs freshness. Also, with this new name I feel that I don’t have a gender which I was seeking for years. I am a man and a woman, whenever I want.
Who are your biggest musical influences and inspirations?
There are many: Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Michael Jackson, Emeli Sande, Miley Cyrus, Cynthia Erivo, Ben Platt, Lea Michele, Mette, Foy Vance, and Jade…just to name a few.
Without revealing too much about it, what can fans expect to see from your live performance of “Drobė?”
Everything!
Why do you want to represent Lithuania in Eurovision?
Because I want Europe to see Lithuania as a modern country, and that we have an interesting and unique understanding about performance art.
What are some of your favorite past Eurovision entries?
“Doomsday Blue” by Bambie Thug (Ireland 2024), “The Code” by Nemo (Switzerland 2024), and “SloMo” by Chanel (Spain 2022).
What are your plans for 2025 – professionally, personally, or otherwise?
Create a lot of music and iconic moments.
Lastly: where can fans check out more of your music?
