Singer and longtime Eurovision fan Amoralu (Lukrecija Vasiliauskaitė) comes to Eurovizija.LT with some competition experience under her belt, having placed second on “X Faktorius” in 2021. Now she’s competing in the national selection for the first time with the song “Freedom.” She spoke to us about the message of the song, as well as why she wants to take the Eurovision stage.
What is your musical background? When and how did you start making music?
Well, I started my singing career at the age of 13. I learned a lot of techniques and a lot of genres, and when I was ready I started entering contests and winning first or second place. That’s when I knew that I love what I am doing and I am good at it. Then, I decided to enter Lithuanian “X Factor” (“X Faktorius”) and I won second place. After that, I wanted to make music of my own, and that’s when I started working with producers and producing my own music. Two years later, I met a producer named Rokas Mikaliūnas, with him I started to make music that I really fell in love with, and felt that my vocal potential was being used.
Why did you decide to enter Eurovizija.LT, and why do you want to represent Lithuania in Eurovision?
Last year, when Sylvester Belt was representing Lithuania in Eurovision, I had an idea that I should go to Eurovision and try it out myself. Also, my singing teacher was the one who said that I should go to Eurovizija.LT and try it out, because she knows my potential, and what I am capable of.
I would like to represent Lithuania in Eurovision because I think Lithuania has a lot of potential, and a lot of young people that have great potential of becoming great artists but don’t have the platform. For me, Eurovision is that platform where underground artists can make an appearance and Lithuania can get to know them. I think representing Lithuania in Eurovision with my song would be a great statement, because my song is not your ordinary Eurovision song – it’s different, and that’s why I love it!
This is your first time competing in the Lithuanian national final. How has the experience been?
The experience is wild. I was not used to making the whole performance from zero to 100 by myself – generating ideas for how the performance should be executed, and creating a team of people who can make my performance come to its full potential, but this experience has taught me a lot. First, making my skin tougher with some negative comments, but also seeing that there are a lot of people that believe in me and support me, and for me that is the most important thing. Also, throughout the time preparing and right now preparing for the Final, there has been a lot of stress and a lot of meetings in one day, but I believe it takes hard work and a good work ethic to make it come true.
Can you tell us about the meaning and inspiration behind the song “Freedom?”
The song “Freedom” is about a person’s right to express themselves how they want. It’s about breaking expectations of how the world perceives you, and being your true self. This song is very dear to me as a woman, because on a day-to-day basis I always feel some kind of expectation thrown at me. Sometimes it’s very mentally challenging to get negative comments about your appearance, your weight, how you act, and I think people should let themselves be how they are and free themselves from any barriers.
What are some of your all-time favorite Eurovision songs?
I’m a big Eurovision fan. With my family, we have a tradition to watch Eurovision every year, and since I’ve become a singer myself, I get a lot of inspiration after seeing Eurovision and seeing new talent there that there is in Europe.
In the last couple of years I believe Lithuania has been sending our singers with the most potential, and I really loved Monika Liu. Also, I cannot ever forget when I was a kid seeing Ukraine’s entry “Dancing Lasha Tumbai,” and what I like to call a human star, Verka Serdiuchka!
Besides Eurovizija.LT and possibly Eurovision, what are your plans for 2025?
I believe Eurovision isn’t my only plan for 2025, and with my team we have plans of making an album with a new and experimental genre of music that I have really started to love. My song “Freedom” is like a representation of this new chapter in my life and my sound.
Is there anything else you’d like fans to know about you that they might not already? Any final messages for our readers?
I believe supporting new artists is very important, because we get a lot of pressure trying to make it to the big stage. So my message to the readers is: guys if you find a new artist that you like, please support them and share their music. Don’t put yourself in barriers with music, or with life. Be true to yourself, inspire yourself, believe in yourself, and dream big, because dreams really do come true.
The final of Eurovizija.LT 2025 will air at 20:30 CET on Saturday, February 15. The winner will represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2025.
