Get ready for a theatric performance from Denmark as SABA has qualified for Eurovision by triumphing on the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix stage! SABA emerged victorious with her entry “Sand” which managed to capture the hearts of both juries and televoters alike, securing 37% of the combined vote.
SABA, full name Saba Lykke Oehlenschlæger, started in the musical industry. She has with her debut song, “Sand,” painted a picture of personal growth and resilience, drawing from her own experiences and advocating for individuality and self-expression. She can now look forward to the second semi-final of Eurovision on the 9th of May.
The highly anticipated DMGP event saw an exciting competition among these eight talented contenders:
- Saba – “Sand”
- Stella – “Sign Here”
- Chu chu – “The Chase (Zoom zoom)”
- Basim – “Johnny”
- RoseeLu – “Real Love”
- Ublu – “Planetary Hearts”
- Janus Wiberg – “I Need Your Love”
- Aura Dione – “Mirrorball of Hope”
Following a suspenseful series of announcements, three acts advanced to the superfinal:
Moreover, the event featured a special appearance by Danish musician ‘eee gee’, who sang a tribute to the late Dario Campeotto. It was a beautiful rendition of his song “Angelique,” which won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix back in 1961.
SABA clinched victory with 37% of the superfinal votes in a close and intense final tally. Basim, the winner of the competition in 2014, secured the second position with a stellar televote score, garnering 34% of the total votes, while the Faroese national, Janus Wiberg, claimed third place with his performance, earning 29% of the total votes.

This is the 54th edition of the historic Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, which has managed to get Denmark a total of three results. The most recent one of those was back in 2013. Reiley, last year’s winner, managed to get 33rd place with his song “Breaking My Heart”.
