The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation announces that Cyprus will be represented at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest by the Cypriot artist, Theo Evan.

As was recently announced, the 2025 contest will be taking place in Basel, Switzerland this coming May.

More details about the entry will follow at a later stage.

Who is Theo Evan?

Theo was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus, where he developed a passion for the performing arts from a young age. Immersed in dance lessons, school choir singing, and theater performances, he quickly made a name for himself in local talent shows, earning numerous awards and distinctions along the way.

Theo is a graduate of The English School in Nicosia and pursued his musical studies at Berklee College of Music. His dedication to his craft led to the release of several singles and an appearance as an extra in HBO’s Euphoria.

A singer, dancer, and songwriter since his earliest memories, Theo has now embarked on the latest chapter of his illustrious career: representing his country in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Cyprus at Eurovision: A Journey of Music and Passion

Over the last five years, Cyprus has had a dynamic journey in the Eurovision Song Contest, showcasing the island’s vibrant musical talent on the global stage. The highlight came in 2018 when Eleni Foureira’s fiery performance of “Fuego” secured an impressive second place, marking Cyprus’s best-ever result in the competition. In 2019, Tamta kept the momentum going with her energetic entry “Replay,” which earned a respectable 13th place.

However, the following years proved more challenging. In 2021, Elena Tsagrinou’s “El Diablo” brought Cyprus back into the top 20, finishing 16th. Despite these successes, the entries in 2022 and 2023—by Andromache and Andrew Lambrou respectively—struggled to replicate the same level of achievement, with “Ela” not advancing to the Final and “Break a Broken Heart” finishing 12th in the Grand Final.

Despite the ups and downs, Cyprus remains a spirited contender, consistently bringing creativity and passion to the Eurovision stage and they did with Silia Kapsis and the song “Liar” which earned the 15th place in the Grand Final of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
