Following the closure of the submission process on October 10th, broadcaster RTSH has proudly announced that over 80 entries have been received for Festivali i këngës 62.

These entries are described as being “quality musical creations” prepared by Albanian composers, lyricists and artists – but also features international artists too. The press release states that submissions were received from Kosovo, North Macedonia, Germany, Sweden, Italy, and the United States.

These entries will now reviewed by the selection committee, who are expected to slate 27 songs for the contest – 13 from established artists and 14 from new and upcoming artists.

It is currently unknown what format the festival will follow or how many nights FiK will run for, but eliminations have occurred in the past few years prior to the final show.

RTSH confirmed earlier this year that the show will select their Eurovision entrant for Malmö, but also recently revealed that the winner will be decided by a 50/50 split between jury and public voting.

This will be Albania’s 20th participation in the contest since their debut in 2004. Last year in Liverpool Albina and the Familja Kalmendi placed in 22nd on the night of the grand final.
