Yesterday, RTL announced a new phase in the national selection process, as an international jury has been appointed for the audition phase of the Luxembourgish selection.

During the pre-selection phase, more than 500 songs were sent to the broadcaster and 300 artists applied, these entries were then sent to RTL where a production team made an initial selection of 70 songs and 50 artists to go through to the audition round.

The remaining entries have now been handed over to an international jury as RTL wants to “guarantee the greatest possible neutrality”. The jury will use the audition round to decide which songs will move forward to the televised selection in January.

The selected jury is composed of:

  • Tali Eshkoli (Jury member of multiple pre-selections and produced the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest as well as the 2021 Miss Universe contest)
  • Christer Björkman (Swedish singer, producer and presenter who produced the 2013 and 2016 Eurovision Song Contest and is set to return as contest producer for ESC 2024)
  • Jan Bors (Live show production expert and former head of delegation for Czechia)
  • Cesár Sampson (Austrian singer and musician who represented Austria in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished 3rd. He has also participated in “Dancing Stars” (2nd place) and in 2021 in the “Masked Singer” Austria)
  • Alex Panayi (Greek-Cypriot singer and composer who has taken part twice in ESC: 1995 and 2000. He has also worked as a vocal coach for Eurovision participants)

The names of the finalists selected by the international jury will be announced at the beginning of December.

Luxembourg’s national selection will be broadcast live on RTL tele from the Rockhal in Esch-Belval on the 27th of January 2024.
