Over the summer, a lot of details has slowly emerged regarding the upcoming Sanremo music festival. Back in May, we learned that Carlo Conti will return as the host and grand maestro, of this yearly spectacular. Now, we know far more about how it all will pan out in 2025.
Italy in ESC 2025
Sanremo 2025 will act as the national final that will decide, who will represent Italy in the contest, which is set to be held in Switzerland. Much will remain the same, but some new elements will also take place. First and foremost, in 2025, there will be a total of 24 competing songs. There is also an aim to make the week long show shorter, but only time will tell if this will be possible.
5 nights will once again guide viewers through the Italian extravaganza, with everything stating on the night of the 11th of February 2025, and then all concluding on the night of the 15 of February 2025.
Below is a short overview of each night:
- Night 1 will see all of the 24 acts being presented for the first time, here a media jury will score each song.
- Night 2 12 acts will perform for the second time, and this time a radio jury and the public will vote.
- Night 3 will then feature the remaining 12 acts also performing for the second time, with the same voter groups. The results from Night 2 and Night 3 are combined here.
- Night 4 will be cover night, where all 24 acts will sing anything they might desire. All 3 voter groups will decide the winner of cover night, but the results from Night 4 will have no significance on the overall results.
- Night 5 is the final night, which will see all 24 acts perform their songs for the third time. Only the public will vote on this night, which will be combined with the results from the first 3 nights. A final top 5 will then be announced, and another voting round will take place before deciding who will be crowned the 2025 Sanremo winner.
Once again for 2025, the winner will be given the opportunity to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest. More details about the competing artist and further details, will be made available and known, before the end of the year.
