The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC/Kan) released Israel’s Eurovision 2025 entry, Yuval Raphael’s “New Day Will Rise,” today.
Raphael was selected to represent Israel through HaKokhav Haba (Rising Star), while “New Day Will Rise” was internally selected by IPBC/Kan.
“New Day Will Rise” is a power ballad written by Keren Peles, who co-wrote “Hurricane” for Eden Golan, Israel’s entry for Eurovision 2024. “Hurricane” came in fifth at Eurovision 2024, and Peles was again selected to provide Israel’s entry.
“New Day Will Rise” is produced and arranged by Tomer Biran, and contains lyrics that are in English, Hebrew, and French. It also contains lyrics from Song of Songs (a biblical poem also known as Song of Solomon). The lyrics passed through the European Broadcasting Corporation’s review process without objections.
Raphael emerged victorious on Rising Star, beating out 65 other hopefuls through a months long process, and edging out Valerie Hamaty and Red Band and Moran Arahoni on the January 22, 2025 Super Final.
Since debuting in 1973, Israel have won Eurovision four times in their forty-six appearances, with Netta’s “Toy” being their most recent at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.
