ERT appears to be learning from past mistakes, moving swiftly to launch the final stage of the National Selection process. The broadcaster has announced that 187 submissions have been received, with the National Final scheduled for January 29, 2025.
The selection process for Greece’s Eurovision 2025 representative continues in accordance with the terms outlined in the call for entries.
It’s worth noting that this number is not unprecedented for ERT. In the past, there have been similar efforts with over 100 submissions for Eurovision. However, these processes often ended with a song being selected – internally – without full transparency about the other entries.
According to Greek media, 12 songs will be revealed in January, selected through a closed-door process by ERT. These songs are expected to be made available to the public after the New Year. The voting process for the National Final will follow the usual 50% public and 50% jury split.
However, there is a twist: there will be two juries—one from Greece and one with international elements. It remains unclear whether the international jury will consist of a diaspora group or a European panel. As a result, each jury will have a 25% share in the final vote.
Eurovision 2025 will take place in Basel, Switzerland, from May 13 to 17. The competition will feature two semi-finals, one on Tuesday and the other on Thursday, leading up to the Grand Final on Saturday as usual.
