Winter of Fire documents the 93 days and night of the Ukrainian Revolution, EuroMaidan, which ultimately lead to the overthrow of their Pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych. He refused to sign a EU agreement, and that is what lead to the EuroMaidan Revolution.
2004 Eurovision winner and activst Ruslana, heavily features in this production which is up for an Oscar is the best Documentary film category. Evgeny Afineevsky is the director is this powerful documentary which showed the struggles of the Ukrainian people during EuroMaidan. Evengy got a crew (of about a dozen film makers) to document this revolution as it unfolded.
It is a powerful documentary as it shows what really happened, none of it is scripted. The film focuses on the protesters which included Ruslana. The interview segments of the documentary, which is the section that Ruslana is most involved in, details the events of EuroMaidan as it unfolded on the streets of Kyiv.
