It’s almost the end of UMK’s week of song releases and today we are feeling Hot for KUUMA and their Finnish song ‘Ylivoimainen’;

KUUMA are a three-piece Finnish pop group that have been signed with Universal Music since 2016. Their first album was released in 2019 also named KUUMA.

The band made up of Johannes Brotherus, Jonttu Luhtavaara and Aarni Soivio tasted real success last year, with their music making it big across Finnish radio and streaming platforms.

The group released music throughout the Covid pandemic, saying that the years across lockdown brought them closer together.

Their song at UMK is described as a universal pop song for anyone. It has energy that anyone can grasp and go along with.

UMK’s selection board have also released their reasoning for choosing KUUMAA for this years contest;

“KUUMAA shows a model of what a Finnish band will sound like in 2023: it is charismatic, modern and has the ability to create big songs for both streaming services and radio. As the band’s frontman, Johannes Brotherus is delightful, and the whole band will jump to a new level through UMK in their career, which is already on the rise. Ilivoimainen is even HOTTER than before and will definitely rock big in February on the Logomo stage and on Finnish televisions.”
