Some weeks ago, it was revealed by Suspline, that 36 names remained in the race, to participate in the national final, which is set for the 17th of December. Yesterday, the Ukrainian broadcaster could then reveal that, it has finally decided which 10 names will perform in the national final.
Vidbir 2023
With officially less than a month left now, until the very first national final of the 2023 season takes place, the heat is indeed getting higher. Unfortunately, Ukraine is still dealing with an invasion, but have remained committed to their participation and seriousness in the competition. Only 10 names are left now in the race to represent the Ukrainian flag, are they are as follow:
- 2TONE — “Квітка“
- Angelina — “Stronger“
- DEMCHUK — “Alive“
- FIINKA — “Довбуш“
- Jerry Heil — “When God Shut The Door“
- KRUTЬ — “Колискова“
- Moisei — “I’m Not Alone“
- OY Sound System — “Ой, тужу“
- Tember Blanche — “Я вдома“
- TVORCHI — “Heart Of Steel“
None of the songs are currently known or published, but it has been revealed that they will be made public ahead of the national final, sometime in December. The running order for the national final is also unknown at the moment and will be decided at a later date.
Among the 10 shortlisted names, we actually find 3 former Vidbir participants. Jerry Heil, Krutь and Tvorchi all participated in 2020 national final and all of them in the final, but all of them could only find themself defeated when Go_A claimed victorious with their song “Solovey“. In the end, the 2020 contest was never held, but it did give Go_A a second chance at the contest, when they were internally selected the following year.
It has also been revealed that Taras Topolya, Jamala and Julia Sanina will act as this year’s Vidbir jury, after the 3 of them came on top of a public voting, on who should represent the national jury in the national final. Whether the 3 has confirmed this position, still remains unknown at the moment.
The winner of Vidbir 2023 will once again represent Ukraine in the 2023 contest, to be held in Liverpool, but will also get a skip into the final, as Ukraine are the defending champions of the competition.
