The official video clip for Zlata Ognevich 2013 Eurovision Song Contest entry “Gravity” has just been released. This is a revamped version of the one performed this past December.
After the composer and artists asked for feedback on how to make this song better, hundreds of responses have been received and a lot of the suggestions were taken into consideration for the new version. According to the composer Mykhailo Nekrasov, the song’s pace and structure was changed but we’ll let you be the judge.

I love her dress in the new version, and the beautiful Unicorns gives the video a fantasy feel

The backing guys from France were nice to look at but that French act last year was a mess. Them and Norway last year goes to show that Eurovision fans do not vote just based on looks. Well unless you’re Russian grannies!

Backing vocals are not as important on studio versions – they add some interest to live performances like France last year with shirtless backing guys. So I am sure Ukraine has the money to have a full 6 people on stage in Malmo.

It is difficult to say if the new version is better or worse. I mheard each version just once. Last year I prefered the re-mix version of Belarus a lot.

The thing I miss the most are the backing vocals who were superb in the NF but fear not, I’m quite confident that it’ll sound great live. Backup singers are obviously not prominently featured in studio recordings.

Until today, Gravity was the best song ever from Ukraine in Eurovision in an absolute Top 5 favourite. Very modern and edgy. But the revamped version is awefully overproduced and scratchy and the video is too much of everything. They are such show-offs those Ukrainians 🙂
Down to my personal rank #8 by now, maybe even lower.

Mixed bag…I like the recording but I liked the original chorus better…otherwise, still should be a Top 10 showing, if not Top 5!
