The Sanmarinese broadcaster advised that Valentina Monetta has signed a pre-agreement to reprsent the small nation San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Denmark. She is the first act to be confirmed for next year.

This is the third time in a row that Valentina is trying her luck. Her first attempt was with “The Social Network Song” in Baku, Azerbaijan and “Crisalide” in Malmo, Sweden. She failed to advance to the Finals on each occasion so maybe Three’s a charm and the team is hoping that this will be her moment. Ralph Siegel, who wrote both of her previous entries is attached to the agreement so we expect his return as well.

This is the fourth time an artist represented a country three years in a row though it hasn’t happened in 47 years. Udo Juergens won the contest in 1966 with “Merci cherie” on this third attempt and was the last artist to enter the contest three times back to back. The good news is that every artist who represented a country three years in a row brought home a victory, maybe this is a sign?

I nominate Rajo to be the lyricist for Ralph Siegel. He’s already got the bridge written! 😀

being a Ralph Siegel fan, I am happy he can be there again, but lets hope this time around they have a performance that blows people away, like Azerbaijan this year. Valentina had a great song thisyear but the performance on stage was not breathtaking. I would suggest ZULU dancers or maybe look at backign singers/dancers from Latin Anerica like Peru or Bolivia or identical triplets from somwhere.
