Tonight, 9 acts competed to represent Germany in Malmö this May, and in the end the winner of Eurovision Song Contest – Das deutsche Finale 2024 was Isaak with the song “Always On The Run”!

The perennial German national final host Barbara Schöneberger was back again this year to present the acts and moderate a panel of ESC experts. This year the panel featured two-time ESC participant Mary Roos (1972 and 1984), past Unser Lied jury-member Florian Silbereisen, German influencer and superfan Riccardo Simonetti, and singer Alli Neumann. Also featured were the two coaches from the Wild Card show “Ich will zum ESC!” Rea Garvey and Conchita Wurst.

This was tonight’s running order:

  1. NinetyNine – “Love On A Budget”
  2. Leona – “Undream You”
  3. Isaak – “Always On The Run”
  4. Galant – “Katze” (Cat)
  5. Floryan – “Scars”
  6. Bodine Monet – “Tears Like Rain”
  7. Ryk – “Oh Boy”
  8. Marie Reim – “Naiv” (Naïve)
  9. Max Mutzke – “Forever Strong”

The Results

Once all 9 acts had performed, there was an appearance by last year’s winners Lord of the Lost to talk about their Eurovision experience, and then it was time for results! First the scores of the 8 international juries were shared. Below are the top points of each jury:

  • Switzerland – 8 pts: Marie Reim, 10 pts: Isaak, 12 pts: Ryk
  • Croatia – 8 pts: Max Mutzke, 10 pts: Leona, 12 pts: Bodine Monet
  • Spain – 8 pts: Isaak, 10 pts: Galant, 12 pts: Marie Reim
  • Lithuania – 8 pts: Isaak, 10 pts: Galant, 12 pts: Max Mutzke
  • United Kingdom – 8 pts: Max Mutzke, 10 pts: NinetyNine, 12 pts: Isaak
  • Iceland – 8 pts: Isaak, 10 pts: Bodine Monet, 12 pts: Galant
  • Austria – 8 pts: Bodine Monet, 10 pts: Max Mutzke, 12 pts: Isaak
  • Sweden – 8 pts: Galant, 10 pts: Isaak, 12 pts: Ryk

Isaak came out on top with the juries! He took first place, followed by Max Mutzke and Bodine Monet.

We were treated to an ABBA medley by all of the participants and Barbara, and then it was time to reveal the public votes, which account for 50% of the final result. When the online and phone votes from the public were revealed, Isaak received 12 points from the televote as well! Max Mutzke came second with 10 points, and Ryk took third with 8.

So there you have it — Isaak will travel to Malmö in May to represent Germany! Because Germany are part of the “Big Five”, they will not compete in either semi-final, but instead qualify automatically for the Grand Final on Saturday.
