Ukrainian Broadcaster “Suspilne” has already received 106 applications from artists that would like to represent Ukraine next year in the United Kingdom. Other artists still have time till 15th of October to submit their entry.
Production director of Vidbir 2023, Dmytro Shnyrov (Pianoboy) wants artists and their teams to create a good track and participate in the selection for Eurovision. He believes that Ukraine should have a good artist with a great song next year. He feels that it is a unique chance and honor to represent Ukraine in the world right now during such a difficult period. The Head of Delegation, Oksana Skybinska, also pointed out that so far there were 2 major violations when artists applied for participation. Among them were the early release of entries and time limitations of the submitted songs. Entries should not be more than 3 minutes long.
It is worth mentioning that the rehearsals of the selection are expected to be from 14th to 16th of December and the Grand Final is expected to be on 17th of December. The concert with the audience is expected to be inside the metro station “Maydan Nezalezhnosti”. The winner will be selected, similarly to previous years, as a combination of public vote and jury decision. The number of jurors will not be less than 3 people and are expected to be appointed based on the results of the public vote.
Furthermore, there will be 2 hosts with one being Timur Miroshnychenko. Eurovision fans will of course remember Timur from his time hosting the 2017 contest alongside Oleksandr Skichko and Volodymyr Ostapchuk, but he has also served as the the Ukrainian commentator of Eurovision since 2007. Last year he provided commentary for UA:PBC via an underground bomb shelter due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Eurovision 2023 will be hosted next year in the United Kingdom following the decision to give this country a chance to host the contest. Ukraine, as a winner of ‘Eurovision-2022’, hopes to select a decent entry for the next year’s competition.
