We’re less than two weeks away from another Eurovision 2023 song release, and this time, it comes from our “shagadelic” rock ‘n’ roll friends from Slovenia.

Slovenian indie rockers Joker Out shared via their Instagram story that they’ve finished filming the music video for their Eurovision song. The song will be released on Feb. 4.

The band confirmed that the song would be in Slovenian, but little is known about the entry otherwise. They finished recording the song in late December at Clouds Hill Recordings in Hamburg, Germany.

This year marks a rare departure from Slovenia’s tradition of holding its national final, Eurovizijska Melodija (EMA). Broadcaster RTV Slovenijahas announced that it had internally selected Joker Out in early December.

RTV said the decision to opt for an internally selected act this year was not a hard one to make, praising Joker Out as one of the most successful, exciting and critically acclaimed bands in Slovenia.

Formed in 2016, the band has two studio albums to date. Their latest album, Demoni, came out in August 2022.

For those who are just discovering the band, there are a few opportunities to check them out this week: they’re hosting a live performance this evening on their Instagram at 8 p.m. CET. Later this week, they’ll also take the stage at the Music Awards Ceremony in Serbia, an awards show that recognizes the best and brightest in Balkan music.
