Today we are bringing you another interview. This time it’s with Regina, who will participate in the Slovenian national final, EMA, to be held on Super Saturday 27th of February.
Hello Regina. After 11 years you are back in EMA. How do you feel about it?
Hello to you too, and to all of your followers. I have to say it is very unusual. I don’t know why, but it feels like it’s my first time. Again I’m filled with the enthusiastic feeling full of joy and expectation. I think it’s because the song is really written in my soul and my vocals. I feel very good singing it and so I can not wait to get back on stage and present it to the audience.
You’ve represented Slovenia back in 1996, but since then Eurovision has grown a bit. Do you know what are you getting into if you win EMA?
I don’t wanna think about it. 🙂 My priorities stuck in my head now is definitely the appearance on EMA. I am a human who lives here and now and doesn’t think too far into the future. And besides, since then I’ve also grown and I think I can take advantage of it.
Can you tell us anything about the song that you will sing at EMA?
It is difficult to describe in words, what you will hear. The song is trendy and in a positive, could say sunny rhythm. The combination of acoustic guitars and trendy electric sounds is making it different. I think that it also carries great potential because of my vocal that is lyrical and very fits the music. I really feel very good when I sing it and I hope so will the crowd. It’s full of emotions and life, which is the basic message of the song. It’s time to win over our fears and prejudices, to get rid of our imaginary barriers and that for a moment we stop, close our eyes, take a deep breath and try to feel alive, Alive in every way, what is the name of the song.
The authors are also very interesting, Aleksander Kogoj, my husband, who writes almost all of my music and is infallible not only in my songs, but also in my life. Without him I wouldn’t be able to stand on the Eurovision stage. There is also Jon Dobrun, young singer-songwriter and rapper, who is actually the best friend and classmate of my son, so I related to him too. And that’s part of the story of my song. Last part will be written by the audience.
Who do you think is your biggest competitor at EMA?
I do not underestimate anyone. All 10 of us also believe in our work and our skills. We all are working hard and giving maximum and how I inquired everyone is a very powerful and good performer, so I think this year the song will be the most important thing. And we will hear the songs on the rehearsals. I must say that I will not take the burden of competition, because I need energy for my song and it is more important.
Tell us a few of your favorite Eurovision songs.
There are many, every year a new one, so I don’t have a real favorite. But I can tell you the first song I can really good remember and I still love to sing it. It is Dan ljubezni by Pepel in kri. Also Pupet on the string means a lot to me, because it was the first one I sang. I was so little that even I couldn’t sing the words, so I sang only la, la, la. And I also have a video of it.
And finally, would you be kind enough to reveal to our readers some detail about you that they probably did not know?
Well I think there’s a lot of things they do not know about me and I do not know where to start. Cooking and arranging the table for celebrations is my great pleasure. When I have the time I paint and I give my emotions on canvas. More and more people are persuading me that I should make exhibition of my paintings, but I think I need to get a little more mature. They also maybe didn’t know that I master in karate and that can brag of having a black belt with sensei Takashi Tokuhisha. I really love hanging out and people around me and all of you who are interested in me and enjoy my music.
Regina, thank you so much for your time and having this interview. We wish you all the best at EMA! Cheers.
It was more than welcome. Hugs and kisses to all of your readers. Bye!
