Can a Lithuanian song become a European hit? It has worked in the past, and very soon we’ll see if can work once again. Silvester Belt is the genius behind the catchy tune, known simply as “Luktelk” and he will represent the Baltic country this year. Lithuania has so far impressed in this decade, so let’s see how it could go this year.

Despite a harsh and lengthy schedule, Silvester Belt still took his time with us, speaking about how everything has been going, by pointing out specific small details that might have changed since the national final, and even telling us a bit how he (and very likely others) should be more open, when it comes to our emotions.

Overall, we get also some insight on how the entire journey has been and how everything has been perceived in general. We also as well are told how Lithuania has changed their view when it comes to the contest, thankfully for the much better.

Lithuania are yet to win the competition, but are also yet to finish within the top 5. The country gained their best result now, almost 20 years ago, when LT United managed to finish 6th with the song “We Are The Winners“, despite never having won. However, in recent years, the country has been able to qualify to the final every year in the 2020’s. In 2021, Lithuania managed to score their 2nd best ever result in the contest, while in the past 2 years, they’ve been right outside the top 10.

A bit about Silvester Belt

His actually name is written a slight bit differently, being actually spelt as Silvestras Beltė, but adapted his on-stage name to a more English style. He was born on the 26th of November 1997, in the city of Kaunas, being the second largest city of the country.

Silvester had his grand on-screen debut, all the way back in 2010, when he was only 13 years old. Here he attempted to represent Lithuania at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

A good few years later, he took part in some reality TV shows, which includes the Lithuanian show Aš – superhitas, in which he came out victorious and in the Lithuanian version of The X Factor, where he was eliminated in the fourth week.

He’s slowly released music over the years, and has even lived in London for some time, but eventually decided to move back to Lithuania to pursue his musical career there.
