The Romanian Eurovision journey continues and tonight we saw the second semi-final take place in the city of Timișoara, the European Capital of Culture for 2021.
Tonight we had another 12 acts performing, and once again, out of these 12 performers, only 3 of the participants would advance to the final.
The show was opened with a performance of last years winning song “Amar Pelos Dois” performed by Ricardo Caria. After a fast introduction, there was no time to waste and we went straight to the 12 songs.
The acts performed in the following order:
- Pragu’ De Sus – Te Voi Chema
- Miruna Diaconescu – Run For You
- MIHAI – Heaven
- Othello – Noi Suntem Pădure
- Alessandro Dănescu – Breaking Up
- Jessie Baneș – Lighting Strikes
- Romeo Zaharia – Maybe This Time
- Rafael & Friends – We Are One
- Serena – Safari
- Endless ft. Maria Grosu – Thinking About You
- Meriem – End The Battle
- Jukebox ft. Bella Santiago – Auzi Cum Bate
Tonight’s line-up, saw once again a few familiar names, best known among them is MIHAI, who represented Romania back in 2006 in Athens. Then we also had Jukebox, which the hardcore Selecția Națională fans would remember.
Once again, the acts who qualified, were all decided purely by the jury members. The televote will be in charge of the outcome only during the final. The jury consisted of the same members from last week:
- Liliana Ștefan
- Viorel Gavrilă
- Ilinca
- Nicu Patoi
- Marian Ionescu
Each jury member had one set of Eurovision points, meaning that each member would give 12, 10 and 8-1 points to their favorites.
The interval act of the second semi-final consisted of the rockband Cargo, Lavinia Răducanu and Neda Ukraden who participated in the Yugoslavian national selection back in 1986.
The trend from last week continued with a rather messy scoreboard, and with the top 3 being as follows:
- Jukebox ft. Bella Santiago – Auzi Cum Bate – 58 Points
- Rafael & Friends – We Are One – 40 Points
- MIHAI – Heaven – 39 Points
These 3 acts now join last week’s three winners in the big final that will take place in Bucharest on the 25th of February. Noticeably, the big favorite from this semi-final, Serena, did badly with the jury, while Jukebox & Bella Santiago almost scored a perfect score of 60 points.
This concludes the second semi-final of Selecția Națională 2018, and our next destination will be Craiova next Sunday!
