The rehearsales for the second Semi Final of Melodifestivalen kicked off and and the Swedish broadcaster SVT posted the 1 Minute snippets online earlier today. You can listen to them HERE.
We paid close attention to what you had to say on our Forum, Twitter and Facebook so here is a review of all eight acts based on your input.
1. JEM- Love Trigger
Paradise ES (Forum): please, get rid of this suburbial song.
GWTW1939 (Forum): I definitely hear the Black Eye Peas influence. I really like this despite not liking BEP. I really like the stage routine in the clip
Dixenborg (Twitter): like the chorus, interesting staging, one that could grow on me.
2. The Refreshments–Hallelujah
Joana Patricia (Twitter): Oh I found The Playtones and Top Cats brothers
Unla (Twitter): Don’t even get me started about this terrible song by The Refreshments.
Matt (Forum): Country usually flops at Eurovision so this may not be the best choice. The staging is corny and while the melody is somewhat catchy, the lyrics about the Lord and Hallelujah is slighty distracting.
3. MANDA-Glow
conwell97 (Forum): I had a hunch that my favourite would be Mahan Moin, and it was. This week, I
have a hunch about Manda, so I’m mostly excited for her song
Rainywoods (Forum): I swear to god i’ve heard Manda’s song a million times before. Everything is just so soulless.
Maikel Schram (Twitter): : If this girl gets her vocals right on saturday, this just might slip through to AC
4. PANETOZ – Efter solsken
MRM (Forum): YAAAAY!! PANETOZ ROCKS!! My favorite in MF 2014, and it will probably stay my
favorite of this edition
Romeo (Forum): PANETOZ! PANETOZ! PANETOZ!! They wouldn’t do well in eurovision, but I love it!
Ayane Bautista (Twitter): Panetoz’s song is the typical one with African beats. Nothing special
5. Pink Pistols – I Am Somebody
Odalis (Forum): this is awful xfacepalm
Schlagerprofilerna (Twitter): Pink Pistols brings back the classic “schlager-strutting” to the melfest stage. We LOVE it.
David Hobbs (Twitter): Pink Pistols! YES. What is this?! Amazing!
6. Sanna Nielsen – Undo
melodimen (Twitter): Ready to #undo the troubles of the day with a blast of Sanna…
Nick Sahlene (Twitter): Definitely rooting for Sanna on Saturday. #undo sounds fantastic!
M.Can Tekin (Twitter) This is gonna win the #melfest
7. Little Great Things – Set Yourself Free
GWTW1939 (Forum) 80s-sounding EMO glam rock in the style of Europe. It isn’t bad, the melody is nice, and there’s a very nice piano riff. It’s just very difficult to define.
Matt (Forum): Garage band music never really appealed to me. This screams AC candidate
Maikel Schram (Twitter): A song that takes you nowhere.. a lot of noise, and thats about it!
8. Martin Stenmarck – När änglarna går hem
FilipFromSweden (Forum): Martin Stenmarck has a pretty high chance of qualifying on Saturday, he has won
Melodifestivalen before, has a few hit songs still playing on the radio, is playing in a new movie coming to theaters
Joana Patricia (Twitter): Sounds great!!! 😀 I know you wouldn’t disappoint me!
Lee Smithurst (Twitter): It’s all about the strings this week. The stand out is Martin Stenmarck
The second Semi Final will take place this Saturday (FEb 8th) in Linköping, Cloetta Centre.
