This Sunday, the second heat of Supernova will air. 4 songs will be chosen for the next round. Miks Galvanovski is one of the artists whom is selected and today he found some time to chat with us about their upcoming participation in Supernova.
Hello Miks
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves ? What can you tell us about yourself?
Hello! Thank you! I’m fine! I’m really excited about upcoming competition. My name is Miks. I’m 19 years old musician from Jelgava, Latvia. All my life, music has been something more than just for fun.
I was 15 years old when I first sang in front of an audience. If someone asks me how it started,with good friends who always told me that my performances were great and with my dear family. My dream was always to be where I am now, but every day this dream is growing bigger until one day I will reach the peak of the mountain.
Your song that you will be presenting for Supernova is “Runaway”. What can you tell us about the song?
This song is about trust, love and passion. The song describes the greatest feeling in the world- when you’re in love. Oh this wonderful feeling! You are ready to do anything what it takes to make your dreams come true!
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for Supernova?
I wrote this song in a late evening at the end of this summer. Before I never thought I would take part in a competition like this. This song was something that changed my life. I remember the day I wrote it, those emotions were incredible. It was something different. One of the greatest feelings in my life.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favourite entry?
Eurovision is the biggest music event in the world. I love it when there is a war on the stage not in the field. This event is great. There you can see everything- starting from grate performances and the true love with music.
I haven’t watched Eurovision every year. I began to watch it once I started to make my own performances. Every year there are some incredible participants with great songs, but I’m a patriot. I loved last years’ performances of Latvian participants Justs and Aminata
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest , where would you dream to do a performance?
It’s definitely a large stadium in front of thousands of people. I think this would be my dream. Anywhere would be great! This is not about the fame, but I want to feel this moment- when they all are on one wave with me. But for now, I just want to show the world what music means to me.
Whom is your personal musical stars that follow a lot and why?
I like different kind of music. But there is one special part in my heart for one band. “Queen” in my opinion are the greatest of all the time. I love them. I can’t explain it. They are just amazing. I think that in music they are creating is another world, another dimension or whole universe.
What is your biggest success so far for you?
My greatest success what can see others is this. TV, big stage and other awesome things.
But my biggest success is that I started to sing. It wasn’t easy. I wasn’t made for it. But I got the greatest lesson in this life- if you really want something, you need to work hard and you always will achieve it.
What’s the one thing that might surprise people about you?
That I’m always positive. No matter what.
