The first heat of Supernova will air this Sunday 5th February. 4 songs will chosen for the next round. Crime Sea is one of the artists whom are selected and today they found some time to chat with us about their upcoming participation in Supernova.
Hello Crime Sea
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves ? What can you tell us about yourself?
Hello, we are doing very well actually a bit busy due to preparing for “SUPERNOVA” but all in all we are looking forward for this competition.
Crime Sea is a group of young people who tries to develop a new concept of popular music keeping in mind pop music traditions but in the same time trying to integrate new sounds and colors. We all are a bit different Alberts ( also known as Lessfucc) for example is our electronic beat guru. He finds unusual sounds everywhere, hah. Elza plays bass guitar but studies jazz piano. Marija ( MNTHA) studies arts and visual design and has a very colorful personality. Ralfs plays guitar and studies jazz music as well. We are wonderers in endless sea of music.
Your song that you will be presenting for Supernova is “Escape”. What can you tell us about the song?
Song is about losing yourself and efforts of trying to find a new path, about life and dreams that tend to blend together from time to time.
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for Supernova and Eurovision?
In the beginning of creating this song it sounded a lot different than now. “Escape” has evolved and grown since then and no, we didn’t write it for the national selection. We knew that this song might make it tho, hah. And it did.So we are really happy about it.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favourite entry?
We think that it is a great opportunity to “spread the word” I mean song hah. But also it surely is a great honor to represent your country in such event as Eurovision. Music is culture. And this is a great chance to let those cultures meet musically and in person with other participants. No we do not watch it every year. But past few years have been interesting with new entries and we would say a new musical feel in this song contest. Eurovision is getting better and better every year.
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest , where would you dream to do a performance?
We would love to perform in music festivals that take place in Latvia, but also Coachella, Glastonbury and Roskilde, dream big, right? ☺
Whom is your personal musical stars that follow a lot and why?
We follow musicians that are true to their music and are not afraid to try and experiment with new sounds, ideas. Musicians that are innovative and that speak to us not only through music but visually as well.
What is your biggest success so far for you?
Taking part in “SUPERNOVA” 2017. We are really excited to show people our music and what we have been doing these past few months.

Where do we find you on a Sunday Afternoon?
We will be drinking coffee somewhere close to nature with sunglasses and happy faces.
