The band Kalush Orchestra plan on wearing authentic outfits from Bukovyna region for their Eurovision performance.
The leader of the band, Oleh Psyuk, will be wearing an authentic outfit from the 20th century from Bukovyna region that was used for celebration.
Even though the outfits for the performance at Eurovision for the band were created specifically for the contest, they were augmented with real authentic attributes. The only thing that is not going to change is the bucket hat of Oleh Psyuk.
All these details were revealed by Oleksii Zhembrovskyi, the stage director of the company Friends Production that is responsible for the creation of Ukraine’s stage performance this year.
Special attention will be given to the roots of Ukraine. The outfit of Oleh will be embroidered with beads. The upper part of the outfit is the modern interpretation of embroidered shirt, known as ‘vyshyvanka’ in Ukraine. The handkerchief is the traditional accessory of Ukrainians. Both men and women wore them.
The flute singer and vocalist, Tymofiy Muzychyuk will be wearing Hutsul style outfit inspired from the 20th century. His outfit will represent what Ukrainian hutsuls, one of the most ancient Ukrainian ethnic groups, were wearing 100 years ago. Specifically, the outfit of Tymofiy was widespread in Vervovyna region of Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine. All the elements of the outfit are accurate replications of ancient clothing.
Tymofiy will also have an authentic collector’s bag from the beginning of the 20th century that is planned to be positioned across the shoulder.
Ukraine will be competing in the first semi-final on May 10th, with the final of the contest taking place on 14th of May.
