A founding member of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the United Kingdom, who participated in the contest in 2003-2005, will most likely not participate in Marsa for the 2014 edition of the contest.

Two of the three British broadcasters who are members of the EBU, and therefore eligible to bring the country back to the contest, have revealed to ESCUnited.com that they will not be bringing the island back to the contest. The BBC and ITV have stated that they have no plans of taking on the contest. The remaining TV channel that could possibly bring the UK back to the contest is Channel 4/S4C, although this broadcaster has not shown any interest in doing so.

The United Kingdom had a rather successful start to the contest, in 2003 they ended 3rd, and in 2004 they ended second, 2005 was a less successful participation, and the UK ended 14th.
