Melodifestivalen, the Swedish National Final has just concluded in what most would consider a nail biter. In the end Robin won the tight race with the song “you”

This is the first time that a song that qualified from the Second Chance wins it all. We recently discussed the Second Chance round concept in a separate article and tonight’s result emphasizes that a song can grow on people.

Rajo : Robin is a man but I think you meant Yohio. He is also a man – and hetero 😉 . He plays in the Visual kei-band Seremedy – that´s why he looks like he does on stage.

Roy, Anton was 5th with juries and 4th with televoters and overall 4th.
So yes, you could say both Second Chance songs did really well

lol, swedish newspapers are mad at international juries for killing Yohio and think they were trying to sabotage their chances.

Actually, I for one have found a new favourite. Seems like Scandinavia is the only part of Europe with decent songs this year.

btw. is Robin a He or She? I am not sure…

Which place did Anton Ewald got, the other second chance candidate? If he is also top 5, then it us even better.

Yes Roy, I told Matt your idea to write about Second Chance was quite fitting! I think this will help any Second Chance or WildCard part of a National Final establish credibility as a way to possibly win. Sometimes, I felt like the WildCard was just to get more ratings (which it is!) and never amounted to much success for the artists, but this is good news!

This is interesting that we only a few weeks ago discussed about SECOND CHANCE and if there indeed was a winner in Sweden via that show and now we get it. So we were very topical.

I can dig it, but Norway is still the one to beat.
