The Cypriot broadcaster CyBC has announced that Sophia Patsalides will represent the nation for the first time since their return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year.
The 13 year old Nicosian will sing “I pio omorfi mera” at the contest, held in Malta Shipbuilding in November, after being internally selected by CyBC. The song has both Greek and English lyrics but has not yet been unveiled. A statement released by a representative of the broadcaster says;
Cyprus promises an exciting return to the Junior Eurovision Song contest, believing in the talent of Sophia and of course the writing skills of Alex Panayi (Cyprus 1995, 2000) and Stavros Stavrou who have written a number of hits together the past two years, including two musicals for young viewers and their families that have been a huge success in Cyprus.
Cyprus was last present at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, where Rafaella Kosta came 11th for the country with “Thalassa, ilios, aeras, fotia”.
