In seven days the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast live for the world to see. The 16 participating countries will take to the stage in hope of bringing home the Junior Eurovision Song Contest trophy. This years contest will be held in Marsa, Malta, in Malta Ship Building. This is the first Eurovision to be broadcast from Malta, and the national broadcaster have promised a spectacular event to showcase the Maltese culture and ability to host an event of such magnitude.

 

PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES

The participating countries are (in the order their sunning order place will be announced):

Malta
Croatia
Bulgaria
San Marino
Montenegro
Cyprus
Slovenia
Russia
The Netherlands
Belarus
Serbia
Sweden
Italy
Georgia
Ukraine
Armenia

The running order will be determined tomorrow evening at the Opening Ceremony. Malta, as hosts, will have their running order position drawn at random.

As previously announced this year, for the first time, will include a second award, which will be decided by non-participating countries’ viewers, the viewers will vote for their favourite song and the winner will receive a trophy in the winners press conference.

 

CONTESTANTS 

This year’s contest is almost completely dominated by girls. There are only two countries (Italy and Bulgaria) who will have boys. Italy’s Vincenzo Cantiello is the only solo boy in this years contest, while Bulgaria have 2 boys in their group Hasan and Ibrahim, accompanied by a girl, Krisia. The other 14 countries will all be represented by girls, either solo or groups.

2014 will see a significant increase in participating countries compared to recent years, there will be 16 countries taking to the Marsa stage, which is the most since 2007 in Rotterdam. Severn countries will participate in Marsa, that did not participate in Kyiv last year, Italy, Slovenia and Montenegro will debut next Saturday, while Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Serbia will make their return to the contest

 

The 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Marsa, Malta, on November 15th, at 19:00 CET
