Israel are looking towards their last finalist to help them with their 2015 selection. Harel Skaat, who represented the East Mediterranean country in 2010 and finished 14th, will be a judge on HaKokhav HaBa, a singing competition which will select Israel’s artist for Vienna heavily modelled on elements of The Voice and The X Factor.
Skaat will be joined as a judge by Assaf Etedgi, Mookie and Keren Peles.
It is not currently known what date the Israeli artist will eventually be chosen but it is expected that the artist will be chosen first and then the song. As a result a national final will decide the artist for the first time since Kdam 2013.
Israel were represented in 2014 by Mei Finegold with “Same Heart”. Despite being an early fan favourite, Mei finished second last in the 2nd semi-final in Copenhagen and left Israel out of the Eurovision final for the fourth time in a row.
