Guy Sebastian has the honor to be the first Australian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. As you are aware, the somewhat controversial decision to let the Country Down Under take part in a contest that is mostly considered European, shocked fans and opponents of the contest. The EBU advised that this is a one time participation only to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the contest. Australia is incredibly popular in Australia and have been broadcasting the contest since 1983.
When Sebastian was revealed as the brodcaster’s choice, people on Social Media went into a frenzy, but not necessarily the good kind. This choice received a mixed reaction, but more negative overall. People did not seem to like that choice of different reasons.
Some people thought that he is old news and irrelevant these days.

Others just don’t see his appeal and don’t fancy his style. While there are also voice of support out there, the disappointment that is currently floating around the web is undeniable. But there are also good news for Guy. Some big names are throwing their support behind the singer which includes Australia Superstar Kylie Minogue.
The 33-year old singer already responded to the negative comments: “To quote the very brilliant Taylor Swift: “Haters gonna hate, hate, hate.” There are way too many positives,” . ‘It’s a huge event, the plus side is so much more than the negative. Of course there will be people saying whatever but I’ve got to ignore it.” This is according to an interview with the Daily Mail.
Sebastian already advised that he’s going to perform a ballad and we should know in a few days which of his songs he chose for Vienna.
