Tomorrow, the German Broadcaster, ARD together with Das Erste will air Unser Song. ARD announced that 5 singers will sing the 2 same songs and eventually the public at home will vote for the favourite artist and song. Today Felicia has spoken to us about her upcoming participation in Unser Song.
Hello Felicia
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves ? What can you tell us about yourself?
Hi! Thanks for asking. I’m doing great. My name is Felicia Lu, I am 21 years old and I am a singer / songwriter. Music has always been my biggest passion, therefore competing in the Eurovision Song Contest would be an absolute dream come true!
What can you tell us about the 2 songs that you will be singing? Is one of them your style?
I’m really happy to say that I actually really like both of them. I was lucky enough to get them adjusted into my genre which is electro pop. So having two songs that I love and can relate to makes all of this just perfect and I can’t wait to perform.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favourite entry?
The ESC is a part of our family tradition. Each year we meet up and watch it together. Therefore there is hardly any year I missed out on. So far my favourite acts have been Loic Nottet, Mans Zelmerlöw and Lena obviously.
Whom is your personal musical stars that follow a lot and why?
I feel influenced by Troye Sivan, The XX, The 1975 and many more. I love music that tells stories in a certain way. Kind of hidden so that you can almost just see the outlines of the story. Artists that are able to put poems into songs inspire me a lot.
What is your biggest success so far for you?
I was lucky enough to compete in a live-TV talent show in 2014. That I’d say was my biggest achievement so far. I was able to sing in front of millions of people and kind of get a sneak peak of what it’s like. The ESC on the other hand is something so much bigger. I can’t even describe how proud I would feel performing in front of all the Eurovision countries. Fingers crossed!
What’s the one thing that might surprise people about you?
That I don’t like big spoons? I don’t know haha. I think there are a couple of things that people wouldn’t associate with myself. That I have never eaten meat in my whole life for instance, or that I have two different eye-colors.
Where do we find you on a Sunday Afternoon?
Probably in front of my camera recording a new video for my YouTube Channel.
What is the best bit of advice you have ever been given?
Everything happens for a reason and if you really want something and work as hard as you can to achieve your goal it will happen. So never stop and never doubt what you can do.
If your life was a song title, what would it be?
“The Perfect Imperfection”
What is a typical day like for you?
Wake up – turn on some good music – breakfast – get ready – work – sing 24/7 and sometimes annoy your co-workers – get back home – spend 1 to 2 hours on music – dinner and sleep. Wish I can replace the working – part with music at some point, because that is where see myself.
