Germany’s national broadcaster has announced on their dedicated Eurovision website that the seven established artists taking part in Unser Song für Österreich will be announced on Wednesday. NDR states that the artists have been chosen in connection with record labels and are nationally known.
The seven artists revealed on Wednesday (14th January) will be joined by the winner of the club concert round to take place on 19th February. Over 1,000 German acts have applied to take part in this club concert for the wildcard spot which last year went to eventual representatives Elaiza.
It is currently unknown who any of the artists will be but rumours suggest Frida Gold may be poised to enter and that Mrs Greenbird, winners of The X Factor in Germany, may have been rejected either as an artist or for a wildcard spot.
Established acts in last year’s final included The Baseballs, Madeline Juno, Santiano and the runners-up Unheilig.
