France 2, the new home for Eurovision in French television, has announced that they will not be asking for the public’s decision regarding next year’s French entry and will revert to the internal selection process used between 2008 and 2013.
“We will be criticised whatever we do” joked Nathalie André, head of entertainment at France 2; “We are seeking a voice, a hit”. André also confirmed that Cyril Féraud would not return as the French commentator for Eurovision next year, a position he has held since 2012.
France are prequalified for the final each year as part of the Big 5 and in recent years have had mixed results. France finished last in 2014 when Twin Twin gained 2 points from Europe, becoming the first time France finished last in their history.
