I'm just listening to MarieMarie's album and it's actually shocking how good "Candy Jar" is. What are your favourite songs this year from the National Selections that either failed miserably or didn't quite make it?

:de: Germany

MarieMarie - Candy Jar
Unheilig - Als Wär's Das Erste Mal
Unheilig - Wir sind alle wie eins
Santiano - The Fiddler on the Deck

:by: Belarus

Elena Sinyavskaya - Via Latteaxheat

:fi: Finland

Jasmin Michaela - Kertakäyttösydän

:se: Sweden

Alcazar - Blame It On The Disco
Eko - Red

Helena Paparizou - Survivor

:ua: Ukraine

Illaria - I'm Alive
Neangely - Courageous

:ro: Romania

Mona Mihaela Trifu - Finallyxheat

All of these would have easily made my top 5 of the year if selected and the ones underlined would challenge my current number 1.

Mona Mihaela Trifu - Finallyxheat

Her failure to even make the show is an atrocity. I still believe foul play was at work. I hope she comes back next year stronger than before.

Here's a few than I even remember.

:ro: Romania

Mona Mihaela Trifu - Finally

:se: Sweden

Mahan Moin - Aleo
Ace Wilder - Busy Doin' Nothin'
Alcazar - Blame it on the disco
Helena Paparizou - Survivor
Linus Svenning - Broder

:pt: Portugal

Catarina Pereira - Mea Culpa

:by: Belarus

Elena Sinyavskaya - Via Lattea

:es: Spain

Brequette - Mas (run)

All I can remember for now.

As for a song that would challenge my number 1, that would be have to be Mahan Moin - Aleo. (despite her poor vocals)

The only ones I still listen to actively are Busy Doing Nothing from Melodifestivalen and Mais Para Dar from Festival da Cancao. Ohh, and my guilty pleasure is She's After My Piano from Eurosong! :D Had Sweden chosen Busy Doing Nothing and Portugal chosen Mais Para Dar, that'd probably be the top 2 in my ranking this year (now it's Armenia and France).

Where do I start? This year's ESC could have been actually good if there weren't so many poor NF selections.

Spain : Brequette - Mas
Germany : Santiano - Fiddler On The Deck
Moldova : Doinita Gherman - Energy
Sweden : Helena Paprizou - Survivora
Outtrigger - Echo
EKO - Red
Ace Wilder - Busy Doing Nothing
Martin Stenmarck - Nar Anglarna Gar Hem
Latvia : Samanta Tina - Stay
Estonia : Sandra Nurmsalu - Kui Tuuled Pöörduvad
Hungary : Bogi - We All
Norway : Linnea Dale - High Hopes
Iceland : Ásdís María - Amor
Albania : Xhejsi Jorgaqi - Ëndërrat janë ëndërra
Portugal : Zana - Nas asas da sorte
Greece : Crystallia - Petalouda stin Athina
France : Joanna - Ma Liberte
Finland : MIAU - God/Drug

Bold songs are those that would have been significant improvements over those selected. Just the thought of all these songs being at Eurovision make me salivate. Oh what a contest we could have had...

:lv: Dons - Pēdējā vēstule (would be my number one) or Olga un Ligo - Saule Riet
:se: Ace Wilder - Busy Doin' Nothin'
:de: The Baseballs - Mo Hotta Mo Betta, Santiano's both songs, Unheilig's both songs.
:ee: Super Hot Cosmos Blues Band - Maybe-Maybe, Traffic - Für Elise, Sandra Nurmsalu - Kui tuuled pöörduvad

Latvia and Germany sent good songs anyway, but Sweden and Estonia… well, didn't.
I haven't followed all national finals, but I'm really happy with how many countries' songs have turned out - however, having some of these songs in the contest would make this year even better than the great one it already is.

Somehow I still go to YouTube just to have a little bit of Linnea Dale - High Hopes from  and Das Gezeichnete Ich - Weil du da Bist from :de: Those are really nice songs that should've made it to Copenhagen.
