Well, 2012 was a record year of Swedish involvement in ESC (around 1/4 of the entries were atleast co-written/ or and co-composed/produced by Swedes).

For all of you who want to refresh your memory, here is the thread for 2012: http://www.escunited.com/t7204/

So, let's take a look at the Swedish involvement in the 2013 edition

At least Norway and The Netherlands got some nice left overs.. perhaps even prime cuts of beef. I despair at the Finnish, Russian and Georgian efforts though.

I actually thought there would have been more Swedish entries this year especially after Loreen's victory. A surprisingly low number of them which is good. Big, perfectly capable countries buying songs from somewhere else is just the saddest thingxcry1

I don't think neither the Norwegian or Dutch entries are "left-overs" though... especially not the Dutch.

Yeah, the whole "importing entry" is a sad thing and I hope finally EBU will step in and change some rules here. What's the point in entries representing countries if the entries can be bought from abroad?

Yeah it should be that Ralph Siegel is the only composer countries can go to for help.

I mean I could make an exception for micro-states that may not even have an actual music scene on their own... but that's it!

"I Feed You My Love" is written by MachoPsycho and Karin Park,

Karin Park has lived in Norway for many years.
And Robin Lynch is from Sandnessjöen, Norway and the co founder of MachoPsycho.
Robin Lynch

Call them rather (Karin and Niklas) country traitors.

I know right?

But, it makes sense that it's on the list since it's a Swedish product... afterall these days entries being products from their own countries aren't really a certainty

I'm really upset with my country being around everywhere. But when I see Norway and Netherlands.... I have to rethink for a while.

I think there is a difference between swedish songwriters and that group of 15-20 swedes that has made a living out of writing crap for ESC. I don't have any problems with swedes such as Karin Park, who has lived in Bergen for over 10 years, writing a song together with a team that hasn't contributed to the competition before. Norways song is a good example of good neighbours working and creating together. The swedish winner also has a norwegian songwriter on their song. The music indistry of the two countries are very tightly connected, and norwegian and swedish musicians and songwriters work together all the time outside the competition as well.

For the second year in a row now all-Swedish involved entries made it to the final, is this really a contest with entries representing their countries, or has it become a playfield for Swedish writers/composers and/-or producers?

Isn't it about high time to change the rules to prevent this?
