This is what we see more and more of at Eurovision:

Instead of giving up on everything, I think we should have rules about the vocals in live performances since Eurovision is mainly about live performances. Obviously, to most viewers, it's hard to hear if a vocal is truly perfect, or if it's just one out of several pre-recorded vocal tracks.

As you can see in the video above, you need to do a lot of analysis to find out what a song consists of. And I'm often in doubt as to what I'm listening to at Melfest, at NMGP, and at Eurovision. In my opinion the rule should be: Live backing vocals are allowed, pre-recorded backing vocals are not. And of course, any kind of auto tune (correction of pitch deviation) must be banned.

The losers - if this is not implemented - are going to be the singers who make an error or two on stage and are ridiculed for it. While another singer who makes just as many errors, doesn't get the same criticism because the mistakes are obscurred and very few people noticed them.

Basically, I just want a transparent competition. If it was all about "good sound" with no irregularities, I would watch Eurovision with considerably less interest.

In one of the latest analysis videos from Wings of Pegasus, there is a great (but worrying) insight into how backing tracks are used in Eurovision songs. Three entries that were in the live show at Eurovision are looked at. I think it's interesting how at some points the backing is almost identical to the lead vocal (=de facto sing-back), and also there is basically an entire song going in the background, with pitch-corrected backing vocals and lots of other stuff.

I agree with Fil from Wings of Pegasus that the rules should be more strict and clear, and they should be enforced more consequently. Are the backing tracks even analyzed by the EBU?
