Just sent my votes for both semis, so as promised, here's the tour of... Me.
Semi 1:
Computer Gaming: I haven't done it in a few years now, due to lack of time (I haven't had as much time off after the pandemic hit as I'd like), but I have thousands of hours in front of the computer over the years, playing mostly racing video games. Started when I was 8, and it's been giving me a lot of joy over the years.
For more details on this, check the post I made for the Videogame spinoff in my Balearica Island thread in December.
Vehicle Models: I think I'm supposed to grow out of this, but I don't. I still think die cast models of cars are pretty cool, but the older version of me treats them nicer than what I did as a kid. They don't go airborne a lot anymore...
Watching Films: I don't do this nearly as much as I'd like, but if there's a new movie I wanna spend money on, then I go to the cinema, and not to Netflix. Movies are best on the big screen. Also a nice escape from real life sometimes.
Beatboxing: Not a personal hobby, but I think beatboxers are among the coolest people on the planet. The sounds they can make blow my mind sometimes.
Dancing: For me, it's more "raving" tbh, but when the music is right, I'm often sweating it out on the dancefloor. But I don't do anything that requires learning any kind of choreography. That requires thinking or focusing, and I just wanna get lost in the music.
Collecting Coins: I started doing this when I was a kid, then sort of grew out of it because it started becoming too expensive, and I couldn't afford it. I had other things to spend the little money I had on. But a few years ago, after I started attending auctions, I picked it up again. Unlike the student version of myself, I can now afford to pay for coins (and notes), and I do. Probably more than I should tbh... But it's fun, and fits nicely with my interest in geography.
I also collect other things (comics, CDs, Coca-Cola merch, Disney merch, and a few other things), but at least the coins don't take up that much space, which is another upside.
Semi 2:
Mini Golf: Used to do this on summer holidays when I was a kid. I'm utter rubbish with a regular golf club, can't even hit the ball, but mini golf is actually pretty fun. Haven't done it in a long time tho, because after I became an adult, I usually travel alone, and mini golf works best with someone to play with.
Cartography: I don't make maps, but I can spend hours just looking at maps. There are so many amazing spots around the world, and a lot of interesting roads going all over the world. Google Maps is an awesome invention, it feels like I have the whole world right in front of me at any given time. I love it.
Reading Books: I don't really read any regular books. But comic books, that's a different story. I learned to read thru the Donald Duck magazine, and at the age of 38, I'm still a huge Donald Duck fan. I've broadened my horizons a bit tho, I don't only read about what's going on in Duckburg anymore, I read a lot of other comics too, and I have a pretty big comics collection (I think I'm in the top 50 in Norway, but I'll know for sure when I've updated my Danish and Swedish comics on the Scandinavian comics database).
PQs:
Linguistics: I'm awful when it comes to grammar, so I don't really attempt to learn new languages properly, but I think languages are fun, and I pick up some words occasionally. Especially Russian, as knowing some extremely basic Russian words make my job a bit easier, and seem to make the day better for the eastern European truck drivers that barely speak a single word of English. I also speak almost perfect Swedish (at least good enough to make Swedish people think I'm a Swede, altho I think the pandemic has weakened my skills lately, I've been lacking practice), I understand quite a bit of German (but can't form a proper sentence on my own), and also understand some Dutch. Maybe surprising to some, given where I come from, but I'm completely useless at spoken Danish, I can't understand it at all (and I think the Danes would struggle with my rather unusual dialect from the Norwegian north-west too). Written Danish is easy tho, it's basically just old-fashioned Norwegian. I think I can also often imitate the pronunciation of languages I don't know, even tho I have no clue what anything means, and I got a rare applause from my class in high school when reading a text in Faroese (hard to say if someone from the Faroe Islands would approve tho, but it sounded Faroese to Norwegians at least).
- Cake Decorating: Figured I'd mention this too, since it's on my banner. It's not my thing, I barely like eating cake.
Chocolate cakes are an exception tho.
But, I've seen what people can do with cake, and the art they make is pretty amazing.
