Dia daoibh, a chairde!

*graphics to come here*

Welcome to Doire for NSC 191 and the start of our 20th decade and the start of our countdown to the big 2-0-0! It's been a long time since we last gathered in Doire (5 months can feel like a lifetime in lockdown), so you are most welcome back.

We are bringing back an old favourite theme of ours; Make Your Own Banner.

Simple really, you can supply your own banner for this edition. There's no theme or any stylistic guidelines to follow, but please be aware of the suggested guidelines outlined by the forum:
  • Hosts sometimes use PNG images, which have a noticeably larger file size than JPG. While PNG brings good image quality, it can also hurt bandwidth.
  • Please consider the size of the image. The old forum automatically resized images so they didn't appear that big, but the bigger image also means bigger file size. Please try to save the image at the exact size you would like it to appear on the forum.
  • Please use outside image hosting sites, do not upload images to the forum.
  • Try compressing images without losing any quality. For example, Photoshop has the option to save images for web where you can choose the quality of 60 (out of 100), have smaller file size and not lose any quality. But there are also compressors like https://imageoptim.com/mac or https://tinyjpg.com/ or https://compressor.io/ which can compress images as well.
The most common computer screen resolution is 1366x768 pixels, so I'd agree that roughly half of that is a good figure to go for (somewhere around 640x320)

To stop the show from being visually horrific, please try to keep to the recommended width/height parameters (640x320). Anyone who doesn't will have their banner replaced by "I'm not a state, I'm a monster" Simspons meme. We're now in the pre-ESC season, the forum needs all the server she can get. Try to include your nation name, artist, and song title in the banner, but as long as it's clear who the entry belongs to that's fine I guess.

Of course your entry will still be accepted if you can not/do not want to submit your own homework, and you do not need to submit it straight away (you could wait until the draw is done, or after the semis are posted if you have a specific idea in mind that will only come to fruition afterwards). Everyone is eligible to take part I believe as there were no non-voters last time out xparty

Deadline is March 23th @ 23:59 CET

Very provisional timetable:

Feel free to promote your entries/NFs below I guess

Go n-éirí an t-ádh oraibh agus fáilte go Doire ::doi

Oooh interesting. Looking forward to hot melting pot of banners for this edition!

Moisantia will relish in the opportunity to send something as random as the music video for our entry - the debut selection from the Surovian authorities for ::moi

More details to follow later from SuGO Distribution on the artist and song ;)

Cue me overthinking my banner and spending hours on something I eventually dislike.

Plan B in case of emergency: you can use a picture of Natalie Horler. Good visuals guaranteed. And we'd know it's you, even without "Solentoya" written on it. xqueenbitch

Too cool - now, how can I convince all of my fellow NSC competitors to vote for me to win with KEiiNO so I can get a personal dedication and performance from them...? #lifegoals

Promotional post: as the newcomer of next edition, allow me to catch your attention for a hot minute. xcheer

First of all, hello to everyone! I am glad to finally be a part of the NSC family and to join the roster alongside @Milos-BC and Belvist. ;)

I am Tuorem, and my nation - Tybalteva - will debut in NSC 191, to be held in Doire. :)

Yesterday, I released a teaser (because why not?) to mark the occasion. Since people are more likely to check this thread than mine, allow me to re-post it here. Our entry will be released in a few days next week.

If you would like to know more about Tybalteva (history, trivia, news), you may check its own thread out HERE.

Happy Sunday to you all, and see you later (alligators). xwave

Obviously this is all subject to change if there's any forum outages/unforseen delays/personal circumstances, but these are earliest possible dates
Yikes, that clairvoyance.

Sadly we will be extending the deadline for confirmations due to personal reasons. Not something I want to do, but the alternative is me just vanishing offline for a few days straight after the deadline and I don't want people calling the Scottish police.

New deadline is March 23rd @ 23:59 CET, so plenty of time for those of you who have already submitted to work on those banners :)

Since today marks 10 years since Doire joined NSC, I'm going to hijack my own confirmations thread to do a sort of celebration.

It only took Doire 3 editions to get the first win. This was a back-up entry (not the last time a necessary change of entry would result in a win for us...) and won NSC 76 in Xhanostania with 213 points

A double win is very rare in NSC, and we almost pulled it off in edition #4. With a comfortable lead throughout voting, we eventually came 2nd, but managed to get back-to-back 210+ scores (the first and only time this has been done in NSC history) and achieved one of the highest non-winning scores ever.....more on that later

The second win wasn't too far away though. Entry #12 would provide the gold for Doire again. An entry which seemed to be a love-it-or-hate-it song thankfully swung just enough lovers to take the title.
