Hello everyone! Welcome to the SF results show thread!
Here's the explanation of our system, please get familiar with it beforehand.

Each time you're given a chess riddle. All you need to do is to make only one move to checkmate, i.e. to end & win the game.
Plus each time several nation figures are presented above the chessboard (some black figures and some white ones).

As a result, all the presented nation figures above will be matched with the pieces on the chessboard below.

Following the right solution of a chess riddle, one of the nation figures will make it to the finals and one of them will be eliminated.

The nation figure, which eventually matches with the winning king, will make it to the finals.
The nation figure, which eventually matches with the losing king, will be eliminated.

Remember: black nation figures will be matched with black chess pieces, and white nation figures will be matched with white ones!

So, if you solve the riddle right first, you'll definitely get to know which nations above have a chance to make it to the grand final and which ones are in danger of elimination, judging by their colour!

Now you can see our first chess riddle below!

And also you see white nation figures (Hypjø, Arirang and Calypso) and black ones (Rahasia-Diati, Redwood Republic, Riya-Sampetrina), above the chessboard. They are all participants/voters from semi 2. It's still unknown with which chess pieces below they will eventually match. It's only shown which of them are white, and which are black.

Remember, you need to make only one move to checkmate!

Who is who? Who's the winning king? Who's the losing one?

I wish I knew more about chess tactics and everything...

All I'm gonna say for now is - it's my birthday, and to expel ::moi from the contest on my birthday would be quite vile so.... yeah, something to consider xpray

Soo, knight to F2 and the whites lost the game! :(

And here are our first transformations!

The white (losing) king turned out to be Hypjø, so unfortunately Hypjø is the first to be out.
The black (winning) king turned out to be Rahasia-Diati.

We had to eliminate someone from semi 2 first (as it has more participants) in order to to maintain equality.
As it's clearly seen, Hypjø is marked now with NQ and turns red in the list, and Rahasia-Diati is marked with Q. But Rahasia-Diati is pre-qualified. So that means - nobody qualified yet.

That was our first riddle and its outcome, we needed to show this beforehand to make all of you get used to the system!
Sorry, Hypjø :(
Now see you at 21:00 CET for the further chess riddles!

btw, well done @takeru ! :)

Thanks to Magnus Carlsen, chess has gotten a lot of airtime on national TV in Norway for years, and I have watched some of it. And I've tried it myself too, but that was at school in the previous millennium. So I think I know the rules, but I don't know anything about tactics, I also don't know the English names of the chess pieces, and I don't think fast enough to be able to pick the correct move first. Plus, there's going to be a NASCAR race going at the same time. But it'll be fun to watch the results. :)

The only relationship I got with chess is that I played once as a kid against my little brother....I lost in less ten minutes...
So yeah, I have never really understood chess. xrofl

I haven't played chess in ages, so I might get confused with this guessing game. But all I want is to the be the checkmater and not the checkmated ;)
