He's a simple guy, who sings (okay, "sings") a simple song with a fantastic lyrics. That's the worth of his performance. He doesn't need to jump like a grasshopper, smiling like in toothpaste ads, or roaring like a lion. A guy + a guitar. That's all. In Hungary, his biggest fans are children. They don't bother, with sparkling clothes, dancers, etc. No, they just love this man, love this song, (f.e. dress like ByeAlex for carnival). No... it's not a song, it's art. He makes a refreshing change in Eurovision. Forget the background, the lights, the "theatre"... Just stop the time and enjoy the simplicity.

While I do agree with your description of ByeAlex (same can be said about Anouk though), the Maltese performance style with the overly-fake smiles was just ridiculous (although it fit the cheesy entry).

Anouk keeps taking the P out of everything. I didn't like that.. it's apparently her sense of humour. I kinda get it as I take the P out of the contest as well. If I was in it, I wouldn't though. I didn't like how she avoided her own countries traditional yearly ESC contest either. But all that aside, I actually got a lot from watching Anouk's performance on tuesday. It was brilliant and fragile. It's clear she's put a hell of a lot into her entry.

ByeAlex as i've said appears to not be making an effort. His song just does not work in a Eurovision context....... yet it apparently DOES work in a Eurovision context as it has for some strange reason I can't put my finger on, against all the odds, made the final.

I'm so happy for Alex xheya

Please dont hate on him, he's just an introverted guy. :( He said he'd prefer to stay in his hotel room listening to some classical music and read.
Appreciate that at least he managed to make himself smile and wave both in the beginning and the end of the performance, it made me laugh.

Reaction in the green room:

Sooo glad for Alex!! Well, in fact glad for me as I really do like this entry, but I guess qualifying is no good news for Alex, as he seems to be fed up with all this Eurovision fuzz.

His performance yesterday was simply awful. I mean, I've seen his performances at the HU national final and in other live concerts and he can deliver WAAAAAY much better, even maintaining the relaxed attitude. Maybe he was just too nervous, or wishing to get to the plane soon. In any case, I hope he solves any problem he may have had yesterday and delivers a good performance on Saturday. Kedvesem is a grower and has been in my Top 5 since I first heard it.

Sorry for the Valentina's fans around.

Damn, I don't understand, I just don't understand. The only moment my parents opened their mouth was to say this song was crap, and the same about the what's apps I received from my friends. Everyone here disliked this at best. It was the most boring and forgettable performance tonight. Brilliant ones have been left.

Thanks Europe ;)

I think you and your peers, relatives should consider getting their hearing checked. No kidding. Or maybe your tatse of music is lacking something. :p
Could be both though...

Well, that's the point: it's a TASTE and it does not respond to any logic. I and my friends liked it (they hadn't heard it before yesterday's show). In fact we voted twice for it. Maybe Kedvesem made it to the Final thanks to our votes, who knows...

And now through learning this piece of information this has instantly become one of my least favourites (although tonight helped him achieve that anyway). What is he doing there? When I first heard this song I thought "awww sweet", was absolutely nothing special though. Seeing him tonight however, he looked absolutely bored stiff. You could have put a lemon on the stage and I would have got more warmth and character from it. The cheerful woman behind the guy just made him look even more miserable. And the song is absolutely nothing special, i'd say it's probably below average. I don't know what genre you'd put this into but I have this feeling this guys thinks he's some kind of Eurovision saviour of music (just a hunch, could be wrong). It's just a pleasant little song with absolutely no substance or drive to it. No idea how it qualified. So much stuff with minimal effort is qualifying. Some could say thats good as it should be about the song. A shame these songs are boring though. I have warmed slightly to Lithuania though. That guy has charisma. This, leaves me cold.

Feeling better now that you wrote it all down? Good. ;)

To be honest neither appeal to me but I could tell that at least Gianluca is a lovely guy who i'd like to be friends with. ByeAlex is like the hipster who turned up at Eurovision by accident and he's doing everything he can to not look like he cares about the whole darn thing he actually entered himself in for.[/QUOTE]

<<<Errrr>>>. wrong answer. His manager entered him to a hungarian competition. Alex didn't feel ready yet, to go on stage. FYI

Oh come on, Hungary is fabulous. The point of the song is that it simply makes you forget all of the troubles you have and takes you do the colourful childhood place displayed on the background. It is by far the best song this year to listen on loop as well.

And to the person who said that this got votes from Finland due to language. By that logic you could say that Moldova will get points from Spain due to the language in the final.

Exactely, Finnish and Hungarian may have linguistic similarities, but are mutually incomprehensible, 100%. Don't even sound close. Romanian and Spanish do sound much closer, even more if written.

Yep, Hungary definitely won't get any language votes ever from Finland nor Estonia. Although Estonia and Finland do exchange points between each other for linguistic reasons quite often.

And Moldova might very well get that? I'm pretty sure they got high points from Italy in the semi for instance.

Oh, I don't mean Finns and Estonians understand Hungarian and the other-way-round, but they might like it nevertheless and support their little Finno-Ugric isolated group in Europe

I mean isn't Finland usually giving Hungary some decent points in ESC? Or maybe I just remember things wrongly...

Sure, Finland does give Hungary points. However I hardly think it is due to some kind of language reasons. I mean Iceland and Sweden are also among the top 5 countries giving points to Hungary - so I'd say it is rather about Northern Europe friendly songs.
