How do you cope with the rock-paper-scissors situations when ranking the songs in your votings? What I mean is, assume that A, B, and C are your top 3 fav songs in an NSC semi, you like A more than C but not more than B + you like B more than A but not more than C + you like C more than B but not more than A -- which one's getting the 12 and which one's getting the 10 and which one's getting the 8?

Yeah, that's an interesting issue! 😀
I have these regularly. Well, I usually always listen to my feelings and change the positions of these songs until I'm eventually satisfied with what turned out. And my opinion can even change later, but... I guess, you can never make such top, so it's relevant all your life 😅
If listening to my feelings doesn't help for long time, then I try to make up more formal reasons why should I place one song above the other, try to find some smaller details that would make me move up or down the particular song. Something like that 🤔

Interesting topic!!

When this happens to me, if I have enough time, I will let the songs marinate in my head for a few days and see what happens.

If I’m voting last minute, then I am partial to my mood.
I often like to consider originality and how touched I am by each song too.

You can try to change your mindset - instead of comparing the songs one to another in pairs, ask yourself "if I could only save one, which one would it be?" That's the n°1, and then rank the remaining two.

Of course letting the songs marinate is the best way to go, if you have the time.

I ask myself "Which one is the least likely to be skipped once played on shuffle, artistic value and other merits aside?". Some songs, no matter how much I get fond of them during the listen are a tough listen for lack of repeat value thereof.

I often have strange situation when I like song X > Y, song Z > X (which should make it the top one), but song Y > Z which is illogical xthink
