Should be a NQ if there's any justice in this world.

From the first semi:

Iceland is great though imo we have a few similar stagings close to it so it doesn't really excite me tbh. Norway will steal the show, it comes after a few ballads and is from the few well performed songs of the semi so it will really stand out. Armenia is interesting but I don't really get what they are trying to do with the performance.

After second rehearsal of semi final 1 I think there are
4 sure Q: Ukraine, Norway, Greece, The Netherlands
2 sure NQ: Denmark, Bulgaria
All others have a shot

I'm gonna say it...

Albania and the Netherlands had two of the weakest rehearsal clips imo.

Everything about Albania was a hot mess, from punanigate to the camerawork to the lighting to Ronela's vocals. I'm scared that they won't pull it together in time and we'll have this year's fan favourite NQ flop.

I've seen The Netherlands get some mixed reactions online which is unsurprising given how popular the song is. Personally I find the stage to be far too empty and S10's vocals are fine but certainly not the strongest we've seen from her (or in relation to the other participants).

Overall my personal impressions of the first semi have been:

Potential winners:
:ua: :pt: :gr:

Better than expected:
:lv: :bg:

Slightly better than expected:
:ch: :sl: :hr: :at:

On par with expectations:
:lt: :dk: :is:  :am:

Didn't meet expectations:
:al: :nl: :md:

:fi: has just jumped from a borderline Q to a very likely Q in my books. The vocals still aren't 100%, but they are a lot better than I had expected based on the UMK performance. Should be sufficient to score somewhere in the middle with juries and in the upper middle with the televote.

Edit: the odds seem to agree, :fi: is improving :)

Also, I wasn't the biggest fan of Bulgaria this year, but seeing the live clip, I started to rule for them. I hope that they will survive the semi instead of Fan favorite Albania.

Did they lose Israel's 2nd rehearsal footage or what? Why is it taking them so long? LOL! I want to have my dinner.

Edit: Here it is - Israel's Second Rehearsal Clip

Did they bring their own LED wall/panels? lol
Smart

Nope. They didn't. The LED panel is there for the delegations to use. I think so far, only Israel and Cyprus are using it. Heard San Marino is using it too. These performances are going to stand out for sure.

The rest of Semi 1:

:is:
WOW this is surprisingly good. Looks very nice and sounds just like the studio version. It could do very well with the juries but I still think it might be too "unexciting" for the public.
Verdict: Toss-up leaning towards borderline non-qualifier. 7th-15th.

Not much to say here. The public will eat this up without a doubt (I expect a Top 3 finish here).
Verdict: Qualifier. 3rd-7th.

:am:
Well it`s memorable for sure. This one I can see doing very well with the juries as it is a simple radio-friendly song with a somewhat creative performance. She sounds good too.
Verdict: Qualifier. 5-8th.

Now, considering what we've written during the last day about the black hole/sun, Norway, Finland and Israel stagings look stunning. The stage is beautiful and these performances have taken full benefit from it. I'm getting the feeling that lacking a very big LED wall, which is hidden behind the sum, makes the stage a bit darker and somehow mysterious. Seems to be in a concert than in a TV show.

Oh dear, uhm ... there is literally zero energy in all of this. I suspect this will come across much better with a live audience. Can he please wear a shirt though lmao? Can see the juries sinking this one. Public will love it.
Verdict: Qualifier. 5-10th.

:il:
Just as cliche gay as expected. I mean, he stays true to himself so kudos but idk who is supposed to vote for it?
Verdict: Toss-up leaning towards borderline non-qualifier. 8-13th.

For me both entries could stay in the semi and I would be a happy men. :p
In semi 1 Ukraine, Austria, and Lithuania are the only countries I am really rooting for, some are okay (Bulgaria, Iceland, Latvia, Slovenia), the rest I don't care much for. ;)
