Crunching the numbers. Judging the songs.
Crunching our teeth. Judging each other.

Like most people on this forum, I have been spending the past few months getting increasingly excited for the Eurovision Song Contest - beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favorite international event of the year. I've waited patiently for all 43 songs to become available and I've listened to those songs over and over again.

Mira, however, has not.

Throughout the month of April, leading up to the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, I will be talking to Mira about the 43 countries in this year's contest and making her listen to their entries for the very first time. She will tell me her thoughts and we'll have a somewhat thorough discussion about each song.

We're still working on making these episodes as fun as possible. Definitely give us a listen and let us know what you think - it's much appreciated.

In our newest episode, we discuss Belarus. We also talk about animals that can fly and how a stage show can enhance a song. This one is probably my favorite episode we've done so far. Of course, when there's wolves involved, how could it not be?

Listened to the first one. If you guys want to be taken seriously, you really need to stop with the "straight white man" hate.

Forgive me for only listening to 30 seconds since I'm short for time at this moment, but you have a very good radio-sounding voice and I enjoyed the harmony at the beginning haha. Douze pointe! I'll listen some more later probably because I'm intrigued.

Oof, you might not like our episode on Montenegro. No, listen, I get it - we are a bit prejudiced towards "straight men" at the contest, Mira perhaps a little more than myself. It's not that we don't want straight men at Eurovision or that we hate straight men on principle, that would genuinely be a little silly. It's hard to really get into words, but we still feel pretty confident about our opinions. "Straightness" implies a sort-of boring, safe, unadventurous type of act, and while there's room for those, it's the diversity of Eurovision that makes it so appealing. The "straighter" the trends are, the less fun it becomes for a lot of people.

Thank you! We feel pretty good about our voices, but we're still working a bit on audio quality and volume control. We'll improve that in one of the next few episodes, so definitely keep listening.

As for the songs we've discussed in the past few days, here are our new episodes:

Time for another weekly update to inform y'all of our new episodes. I'll be honest - panic is starting to strike. We're less than 22 days away from the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest and we've got another 30 songs to listen to. Time is catching up with us, and as you all know, time is like thunder.

Last week, Mira and I lost track of time a bit, but we did make it up by going to see Laura Tesoro's last concert in Belgium before leaving for Stockholm. Afterwards, we tried to ask her a quick question about her fellow contestants. Other than that, of course we've discussed a few more countries and their entries. Many more to come!
